Adobe Joins Intel, IBM, HP Aboard Linux Bandwagon

All I can say is, "It's about fucking time!". For years I've recognized the fact that until there are standards formed for the Linux desktop, that it cannot be a viable alternative to Windows. Apple figured that out with OS X, and that has been very successful. There are just certain things that users have grown to expect, and unfortunately Linux cannot offer them on the desktop.

Don't get me wrong, I've been a proponent of Linux for a long time, and have continued to use it. In fact, except for c#, I do all of my development on a Linux desktop. For me, I love the Linux desktop, but for the average Joe, it's just not that attractive. Hopefully though, getting some standards in there will pave the way to changing this.

Latte With a Double Shot of God

When I moved to Bozeman, I was addicted to Starbucks. Not having one here forced me to deal with my addition that was costing upwards of $30 a week. Now that they are planning on building one here, I've thought about whether I will be able to withstand the temptation of the almighty Starbucks.

After reading this article today, it's safe to say that I can. While I think that religion is great for some people, it's not for others. By Starbucks making the decision to print religious quotes on the side of their coffee cups forces there religious views upon people who might not be interested, such as myself. The next time I happen to wander into a Starbucks (which is pretty rare anymore), I'll politely order my drink and ask for a non-religious cup. If one can't be provided, I'll no longer be a customer (I buy their ground coffee too).

Who Controls the Weather?

I thought this was particularly interesting. While I don't believe that anyone has the ability to control weather, it's something I've thought about growing up. While I always thought this was something that was only in the movies, I was suprised to learn that millions of dollars have been spent to research this.

While the UN has made this type of technology "illegal", it doesn't mean that it still isn't being researched. Apparently the US decided to quit researching it in the late 70's but the Russians kept their program going.

Anyways, just thought this was interesting as I had never entertained the idea that this was something of a possibility. This article outlines some of the possible techniques that could be used even - quite fascinating as the same techniques can be used as a missle shield too!

Spunday!!

Yesterday was Spunday and I LOVE Spunday. Spunday consists of a good group of friends getting together and eating awesome food and includes heavy drinking (hence Spunday, we usually get spun ;). We rotate the weeks out, and we have been doing this for a while now. Since summer is over, it's a lot easier to do this again.

Well, this last Spunday was my turn to host again. Around 2pm I picked up Mike to goto the store and start getting supplies. I had already decided on beef stroganoff since it was cold and had snowed the night before. I also decided to make up an appetizer and Mike had two he wanted to create. After hitting the store we had all but one ingrediant... fresh oysters. For those who are not familiar with Bozeman, there are two places in town that I know of that sell fresh oysters, and one was closed. After getting about 20 of those suckers, it was time to start cooking.

Everything turned out amazing. At first I thought having 3 appetizers might be too much, but after making them and watching them disappear, it was the right amount. Here are some pics of how everything turned out:

A lot of hungry bastards!
